10 tests made during the first weekend of February

First weekend of February turned out to be a quite active for Checkpoint volunteers – during their work in the clubs in two days the total of 10 tests were made (4 tests were carried out in club Golden, while 6 in Club XXL).

The next weekend when it will be possible to make a free HIV and syphilis tests – 20 February (Club Golden) and 21 February (Club XXL).
All services of Checkpoint are also available on every Tuesday and Wednesday, from 6 to 8:30 pm, in Riga, Stabu 19.

Network of Supporting Doctors for man having sexual relationship with men has expanded

“Baltic HIV Association” is pleased to announce that its Network of Supporting Doctors for man having sexual relationship with men, operating within the framework of Checkpoint project, has expanded.

As of January 2015, 18 men-friendly doctors – dermatovenereologists, infectologists – hepatologists and addiction specialists and family physicians will be available in Riga.

Baltic HIV Association presents Testpunkts.lv and invites to get a HIV test during European HIV Testing Week

From November 21 – 28, 2014 during the European HIV testing week, NGO „Baltic HIV Association” organizes free HIV testing in Riga at Testpunkts, Stabu str. 19, club „GOLDEN”, Ģertrūdes str. 33 and club „XXL”, A. Kalniņa str. 4.

This is already the second year when more than 470 organizations from 47 different European countries invites people to get aware of their HIV status during the European HIV testing week. The aim of this event is to encourage people who could have been at risk of HIV to get a test and to support dialogue between all partners in order to encourage at risk individuals to ask for an HIV test and for more HIV tests to be offered to those at risk.

„This is the first year when NGO „Baltic HIV Association” takes part and organizes activities within the European HIV testing week, therefor hoping to get society’s attention to importance of early HIV diagnoses and to slow down the spread of HIV infected people. In honour of this event, we are happy to introduce with the new web site www.testpunkts.lv, operating under our project “Testpunkts” (tr. Checkpoint). There everyone can get wide information about the services offered by Testpunkts – HIV express testing, specialists’ advices, informative materials, as well as ability to ask questions to our experts or get advice on choosing doctors for further medical assistance”, says Inga Upmace, member of the board of NGO “Baltic HIV Association”.

Established network of supportive doctors for men who have sex with men

In July Network of supportive doctors for men who have sex with men (MSM), has established. This Network includes 11 doctors – infectologists, dermatovenerologists and family doctors. Addressing to those doctors MSM could receive consultation without stigmatization and discrimination because of their lifestyle.

This Network is established within the project “Promoting social inclusion of men who have sex with men (MSM) by improving access and quality of health care services”. Before the establishing of Network training for doctors were carried out. In the October one more training will be provided in purpose to enlarge Network of supportive doctors for MSM.
